It’s time to say goodbye

After more than a decade of dreaming and planning, and seven incredible years leading Rebuild East Midlands as its Founder and CEO, the time has come for me to hand over the reins.

When I first began shaping the idea that became Rebuild, it was rooted in a simple but powerful belief: no one recovering from Modern Slavery should have to do so alone. Over the years, that belief has grown into a dedicated team, a network of partners, and a community of amazing supporters, all working together to create a place of safety, hope, and opportunity for those rebuilding their lives in Derbyshire.

It’s hard to put into words what a privilege it has been to walk alongside those we have supported, to witness their courage and resilience, and to see lives transformed. There have been challenges, of course, but there have also been countless moments of pure joy: someone moving into their first home, getting married, finding a job, reconnecting with family, or simply telling us, “I feel safe now.”

Today, I’m proud to pass the leadership of Rebuild to Paul McAnulty. Paul brings a wealth of experience, a strong commitment to social justice, and a genuine passion for the people we support. I know he will lead with both compassion and determination, building on the strong foundations we’ve laid together.

While stepping back from the role is bittersweet, I leave with a heart full of gratitude for the people we’ve served, the incredible team I’ve been part of, and the many partners and supporters who’ve stood with us.

Athough I’m stepping away from the CEO role, I will continue to cheer Rebuild on and support from a distance.

Rebuild has always been about more than one person: it’s about a shared vision and a shared commitment. I know that vision will continue to shine brightly. Here’s to the next chapter.
